RationAle Brewing takes the prize for making full flavored non-alcoholic beers at fewer calories. I’ll be reviewing their full line-up of four current flavors in the next few weeks: Citrus Hazy IPA, Mexican Lager, West Coast IPA and New England Hazy IPA.
I like my beers medium to full-bodied, with lots of flavor. Many non-alcoholic beers that meet my bar clock in just short of 100 calories. Lighter calorie beers have generally tasted lighter. In my experience, lower calories have meant less flavor and body.
RationAle Brewing is crushing those expectations. At 45 to 60 calories, depending on style, their NA brews have impressed me with full flavor at fewer calories. Well done!
I also love their can designs, which emphasize the beauty of the American outdoors, and a spirit of awe and adventure.
Nonalcoholic brews really do pair exceptionally well with outdoor adventures. There’s nothing quite like cracking open a cold can of refreshing beer out of the cooler in the back of your truck after a long hike or bike ride. Knowing that NA beer doesn’t only taste phenomenal but will hydrate you at the same time — priceless.
RationAle’s Citrus Hazy IPA is is a full-bodied Grapefruit-forward citrus IPA that has a thick juicy feel. It pours a very hazy, orange color. It looks juicy upon first sight and tastes just like it. It comes with a nice head and is Grapefruit-forward on the nose. There’s a very mild hoppy bitter flavor towards the end of your sip. 60 calories.
Available online and at select retailers on the West Coast.
Thanks to RationAle Brewing for introducing me to their brews by sending me one free 6-pack of each of their styles.
