Malty, Rich Goodness | Clausthaler Dry Hopped
This beer convinced me to give buzz free brews another go
If you’re like me and you’ve tried a non-alcoholic beer in the distant past, you were likely disappointed.
It just didn’t taste very good. I remember the days when non-alcoholic beer tasted like a watered down version of the real deal.
You can pretty much chase me with lite beers and nonalcoholic beers used to be their uglier cousin. And nobody wants to go out with that guy…
Not anymore!
Having spent a month in Germany this June, during which I was drinking north of three full-strength beers each day (hey…don’t judge—the beer is incredible and super cheap!), I was determined to take a break from the daily buzz. After about a week of no alcohol, I developed an intense craving for the taste of beer. As in, thinking about beer multiple times per day and negotiating with myself whether it would really be such a terrible idea to have just one…”c’mon ONE beer isn’t going to kill you, is it?”
But we all know how this story ends…Instead of giving in, I put on my sneakers and went across the street to my local Whole Foods in a desperate attempt to satisfy my beer craving without the guilt.
Enter: Clausthaler Dry Hopped.
Needless to say, I had low expectations and boy was I surprised.
This little brown bottle pours a creamy head on top of a hazy brown. So pretty! It then welcomes you with a deep, malty aroma that invites you to take a sip.
Refreshing, full-bodied, with a hoppy finish, Clausthaler Dry Hopped has become a staple in our fridge. And with only 89 calories per 12 fl. oz. bottle, this is the kind of guilt-free enjoyment I can get behind. Prost!
