Have you had San Pellegrino’s Aranciata Rossa? That’s the closest comparison that came to my mind as I tried Untitled Art’s Mango Dragonfruit Fruited Sour. Subtly sour and succulently juicy, this non-alcoholic sour brew will appeal particularly to folks who like their brews fruit-forward and sweet. It might just blow your mind.
Mango Dragonfruit Fruited Sour by Untitled Art pours a bright blood orange color with very little head. I don’t eat dragonfruit very often and the taste reminded me more of passionfruit followed by a dry mango finish.
Warren Wills writing about Untitled Art for Day One Distribution captures their essence beautifully:
“there was little intention of making specific flagship styles, but more to focus their energy on newer flavor-forward styles, As for the can art, the abstract expressionism they feature is generally purveying a visceral feeling of it’s contents.”
As someone who relishes traditional beer styles heavy on hops and malts, this fruited sour was a delicious and refreshing juicy drink, but it didn’t remind me of beer. And even though I have had my fair share of sour beers, this brew falls more on the juice than the beer spectrum. The one exception is the body which feels closer to beer than to sparkling juice.
Expect Untitled Art’s non-alcoholic brews to fall on the sweeter side of the beer spectrum. If you’re looking for an unusually full-flavored, juicy experience with a full mouth feel, you’ll love Untitled Art’s Mango Dragonfruit Fruited Sour. I’d choose this brew over sparkling juice any day.
